A good timeline is the difference between a day that flows and one that feels rushed. These are the rules our coordinators live by.
Work backwards from sunset
Golden-hour portraits and outdoor drinks depend on the light, so we start with sunset and build the evening around it, then work back through the meal to the ceremony and preparations.
Build in buffers
Hair and make-up always overrun, and guests take longer to sit down than you think. We add ten minutes of buffer to every transition, which is usually what keeps the day on schedule.
Move the speeches
Speeches before the meal mean nervous speakers can enjoy their food, and the kitchen can serve on time. It's the single change that most improves the flow of a reception.
