Flowers that are in season look fresher, last longer and cost noticeably less than imported stems. Here's what we reach for through the year.
Spring
Tulips, ranunculus, narcissi, blossom branches and, from late May, the first peonies. Spring palettes tend to be soft and fresh: whites, creams, blush and pale yellow.
Summer
Garden roses, sweet peas, delphiniums, cornflowers and cosmos are abundant and joyful. Summer is the easiest season for loose, meadow-style arrangements and big ceremony installations.
Autumn and winter
Dahlias, chrysanthemums, rosehips and dried grasses carry autumn; amaryllis, hellebores, eucalyptus and berries see us through winter. Candles do a lot of the work in darker months, so you need fewer stems.
