What we stand for
On its own each one is just a good intention. Twisted together they’re what pet owners can rely on at Picket Fence Vets.
Every conversation starts with what you need, not with what we’d like to sell.
Our vets & nurses are trained, careful and proud of the details nobody else checks.
Clear prices, honest advice and no small print we wouldn’t sign ourselves.
Rooted in Hobart: local suppliers, local partners and a lot of local pet owners.
Call, message or drop in. Quick answers from people who know your name.
We learn from every visit, every review and every awkward question.
Our story
Every business has its turning points. These are ours.

Two vets, one nurse and a converted shop on Meadow Lane in Hobart.

A purpose-built theatre and separate dog and cat wards.

Our own lab, digital X-ray and ultrasound for same-day answers.

A cat-only waiting room and consult room, and every team member trained in gentle handling.

Laparoscopic spays and biopsies, with smaller wounds and faster recovery.
The next chapter starts with you.

Reviews
Hundreds of five-star reviews and counting. Here's what pet owners say about Picket Fence Vets.
“Biscuit ate a sock on a Sunday. Picket Fence Vets talked us through it on the phone, saw us within the hour and he was home that night. Can't thank them enough.”
Clare W.
Owner of Biscuit, cocker spaniel
“Miso hates the vet. The cat-only waiting room and the way the nurse let her come out of her box in her own time made a huge difference.”
Tom Harding
Owner of Miso, cat
“Puppy club was the best £60 we've spent. Luna now trots in for her checks wagging her tail, and we learned loads about training.”
Aisha & Ben
Puppy club graduates
“They've looked after Pip all his life and now help keep him comfortable in his old age. Always kind, never rushed.”
Margaret Lowe
Owner of Pip, 14-year-old terrier
“Finally found vets who really know rabbits. Proper dental checks and sensible diet advice instead of just 'feed more hay'.”
Jordan K.
Owner of Clover & Thistle, rabbits
“The health plan pays for itself with two dogs. Reminders come through, flea treatment is sorted and the discount on dentals helped a lot.”
Sarah Patel
Health plan member
“Our old lab can't stand for long, so other groomers wouldn't take him. Here they work in short sessions with breaks and he comes back shining.”
