Q.01 · Joining

Are you taking on new NHS patients?

Yes, we currently have NHS places for children and a limited number for adults. Call reception or register online and we'll offer you a first check-up, usually within three weeks. If adult places fill up, we'll add you to the waiting list and keep you updated.

Q.02 · Joining

What's the difference between NHS and private treatment?

NHS treatment covers everything clinically necessary to keep your mouth healthy, at fixed national band prices. Private treatment adds cosmetic options, longer appointments and premium materials. Many patients mix the two, and we'll always tell you which is which before you start.

Q.03 · Appointments

What should I do in a dental emergency?

Call us as soon as we open at 8am. We keep same-day slots for toothache, swelling, broken teeth and lost crowns. Out of hours, ring NHS 111. If you have swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, go to A&E.

Q.04 · Appointments

I'm really nervous. Can you help?

Absolutely; around one in three of our patients tells us they're anxious. Tell us when you book and we'll give you a longer appointment, explain every step, agree a stop signal and go at your pace. Sedation is available for longer treatments.

Q.05 · Appointments

How often do I need a check-up?

It depends on your mouth. NICE guidance suggests anywhere from every 3 months to every 2 years for adults, and up to every year for children. Your dentist will set a recall interval based on your risk of decay and gum disease.

Q.06 · Fees & payment

Do you offer finance for private treatment?

Yes. Treatments over £500 can be spread over 6 or 12 months at 0% APR, subject to status. Longer terms are available for implants and orthodontics. We'll give you a written quote before you decide.

Q.07 · Fees & payment

Who gets free NHS dental treatment?

Under-18s, under-19s in full-time education, pregnant women and those who've had a baby in the last 12 months, and people receiving certain benefits. Bring proof of exemption to your appointment.

Q.08 · Treatments

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes, when it's done by a dentist. UK law only allows dentists to provide whitening with effective-strength gels, after an examination. Beauty salon and online kits are often illegal or ineffective, and can damage gums.

Q.09 · Treatments

Can my child have braces on the NHS?

Under-18s can have NHS braces if their teeth meet the clinical need threshold on a scale called IOTN. Our dentist will assess your child from around age 11–12 and refer them if they qualify, or discuss private options if not.

Q.10 · Accessibility

Is the practice accessible?

Our ground-floor surgeries have step-free access and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. There's a hearing loop at reception, and we're happy to book longer appointments for anyone who needs them.
