Automation sounds like a big project, but the best ones are tiny. A rule that saves two minutes, run forty times a week, quietly gives a team back more than an hour. Here are the ones we see paying off fastest.
Hand-offs and assignments
When a task moves to Review, assign the reviewer automatically and post a message in the right channel. When a request comes in through a form, route it to the right person based on the answers. Nobody has to remember who does what next.
Deadline nudges
Send a gentle reminder two days before a due date and a firmer one the day after. Move overdue tasks into a 'needs attention' view so leads can spot slippage without digging.
Recurring work
Weekly reports, monthly invoices and quarterly reviews can be created on a schedule with checklists already attached. That consistency is where automation earns its keep.
Start small, then review
Switch on two or three rules, check the run log after a week, and adjust. It's easy to over-automate, so keep a short list of rules everyone understands rather than a sprawling one nobody trusts.
